Our Management Team
Mike Cully
President
Mike Cully has had the rare opportunity to make his passion his profession for over 40 years. Being a hands-on owner has given Mike a unique understanding of quality and service. As a result, he believes in exceeding customer expectations, and he does it by always being accessible and personally going out of his way to solve customers' problems. Mike learned integrity and work ethic from his father, William Cully, an entrepreneur who purchased UPG in 1981. Mike graduated from Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, then worked in the glass business on the West Coast for a few years. He then returned home to join his father and brother at United Plate Glass in 1983, eventually taking over as President in 2003. As UPG has undergone growth and change throughout the years, one thing has remained constant - Mike's dedication to the company his family has built and the customers they serve. From those simple beginnings, years of hard work and risk taking under Mike's leadership has transformed UPG into one of the premier independent glass distributors on the East Coast.
Joyce Cully
Controller
Joyce Cully has partnered with husband, Mike, for over 40 years to build United Plate Glass into a difference making company, both for the people employed there as well as the community in which it operates. A professional business woman, she has paired a keen awareness of the glass industry with sound judgement and resourcefulness to help turn UPG business plans into reality. Joyce learned early on from her father, who was also in the glass business, that hard work leads to success. As Controller, she oversees everything from finances and accounting to human resources. One of the most fulfilling parts of her job is the ability to institute programs which give back to the employees, who she sees as the most important part of UPG. She is also heavily involved in charity work and has spearheaded many initiatives to give back to the community. She and husband Mike have worked hard at building a successful business together, and worked equally as hard to give something back during that process.

He then transferred to North Carolina to head-up UPG operations in Lincolnton and has been the driving force behind our success there. In his free time, Matt is an avid animal advocate participating in various non-profit organizations such as Help Animals To Survive (H.A.T.S.).

Joffy Thompson
Director of Sales - PA
Email Address : Joffy.Thompson@UnitedPlateGlass.com
Jonathan "Joffy" Thompson joined the UPG team back in 2011, but he's literally grown up in the glass industry. His father works for a major float manufacturer and has called on Mike and Joyce since before Joffy was born. So, while Joff had been exposed to the flat glass industry both at home as well as through various courses covering glass fundamentals, his first experience at UPG was much more "hands-on". From the start, ownership knew his skill set would center on customer engagement. However, in an effort to gain a better understanding of our products and processes, Joffy first started in production, where he learned to do everything from cutting glass to running a tempering line. He was then able to transfer this knowledge and experience into his present role as Sales Manager for our PA location. In his free time, Joff is an avid CrossFitter, and also enjoys cooking and brewing his own craft beer!
